From May 14–18, the Dialogue Summit in Bucharest united over 270 participants from 38 countries. Through dialogue, collaboration, and reflection, the summit emphasized how meaningful conversations can reconnect divided societies and strengthen peace and democracy.

Recognizing Courage and the Fight for Freedom
Every year, the European Parliament honors individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to defending human rights.
This year, 2024 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought was awarded to María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, in recognition of their commitment to restoring democracy in Venezuela.
The Intercultural Dialogue Platform participated in the Award Ceremony in Strasbourg, joining laureates, finalists, and civil society leaders to discuss ways to strengthen democracy, human dignity, and global peace.
